For some, homelessness is safer than home. It is difficult to imagine a life where the home is a dangerous place yet 34 per cent of those seeking help for homelessness do so as a result of abuse (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2012). The 2013 Wesley Report; Homelessness and the next generation looks at the immediate and long-term issues facing homeless mothers, their children and those who experienced homelessness as a child.
